New Year, New Work, Same Hustle!

January at Rino Made In Denver

2019 is off with a bang with my guest artist slot at Rino Made Store at Zeppelin station at 3501 Wazee St. in Denver.  I've been a part of the Rino Arts District community for a couple years now and I have to say that its an awesome place to show and sell art.  The Rino Arts district is doing a ton to support local artists, because as they say, "if there's not artists then there's no arts district."  The Rino Made store is a gallery of local work from creators in their district.   I put a ton of work into my show for January with three new full size layered plexiglass pieces and ten of the small mini plexiglass originals.  The Plexiglass minis are fun because each one is a unique and limited color study of the large original.  I've been exploring dimension even more with this latest round of plexiglass pieces.  I think it's worth going to take a look at this new round with paint on both sides of the panels, and expanding the scope and scale of the pieces.   For "Riding Into Town" and more upcoming work I have been using actual historical photos of the old west and Colorado to make the images come to life.  It has been an awesome resource to help envision some of the moment of impact scenes as people would have looked in them. Watch Facebook and Instagram for updates on live painting during my guest artist run at Rino Made.  I'll be updating some of the smaller plexiglass minis as they sell so there will be new work through the month as well!  If you'd like to schedule a time to meet and view the new work then please reach out at kuehl.cody@gmail.com or 303.359.9766.

Commissions

My general guidelines for commissions are: -My prices for custom are all pretty close to the prices/size of my existing stuff in my available originals section of my portfolio if you want a preliminary ballpark.  (Artofcodykuehl.com) -It's always good to meet or talk about your ideas and inspiration as well as reference photos that you'd like to use. -Once we have your ideas in, then I'll do some ROUGH drawings for composition for your piece. -Once we have the rough comp, then I'll do a final drawing.  (I'm most flexible for some adjustments for detail at this point) -We'll approve the final drawing so you know what the image will actually look like and I'll do the background in the colors you're looking for. (Usually I offer one Redo of the background if you aren't totally satisfied.) -Once the background is done, then I'll overlay the image and finish the front painting. -For cost I do a $500 minimum on all custom work. -I always have a 30% non-refundable deposit to begin work. Here's a couple few pics to illustrate from a commission I just finished for a person with her three beloved horses!   Rough Drawing: (usually I do a few of these for different parts of the painting and put them together digitally)   Final Comp: Final Painting:  (The photo is less vibrant than the original) The process has worked well, so that people know EXACTLY what they'll be getting at each step.  It makes it easier for me to fine tune for your specific ideas and reference photos. Digital work is a little different process as well. So the big questions are: What might you be looking for image-wise in the painting? What size do you think you're looking for? What range do you think you are looking at for cost? What's your timeline? I'm a big believer in meeting people out to talk about your ideas.  Whatever size you're looking to do, I'm always accommodating on finding a good price that fits your budget and then stretching up for a little bit bigger size.  If you're interested in more information, please email me at kuehl.cody@gmail.com!
